Liquid Light

In the early months of 2019, Lita Albuquerque approached me about collaborating on a new project- her film “Liquid Light.” She handed over 20+ hours of footage and shared one descriptive sentence for the narrative: “A 25th century female astronaut has come to Earth to bring the language of light, humans reject her, and she leaves the planet dejected.” For the next 6 months I studied Lita’s work and scoured over the footage and formulated a 5 chapter, 27 minute film that follows our hero through an emotional journey of light, failure, and acceptance of what we must do to prosper in the future.

Once the film was finished, I designed the presentation of the film as an installation, splitting the film into a triptych that spanned 36 feet wide and 12.5 feet tall. I wanted the vast moving imagery to engulf the viewer into the narrative. To place them into the scene and Lita’s Mythos.

Liquid Light premiered at the 59th La Biennale di Venezia, Biennale Arte 2022 presented by bardoLA.
